My work begins where expectations of beauty end.

At the centre stands the woman — not as an ideal or a surface for the projections of others, but as a complex individual with her own identity, inner strength and presence. What interests me is the moment in which a woman stops defining herself through the gaze of others and comes fully into herself.

For over four decades I worked internationally as a make-up artist and stylist for film productions. Those years shaped my eye: for faces, bodies, light, shadow and staging. I know how images are constructed — and that is precisely why I am interested today in what becomes visible when a role stops mattering for a moment.

My images do not come from a wish to make women more beautiful. They come from a wish to make women visible beyond judgement.

Photography is a starting point for me, not an end. Selected works become autonomous image objects — as limited editions, on unusual supports or with hand-worked interventions in 24-carat gold. The gold is not decoration; it is part of the work.

W/ARE draws this stance together: female presence, seen from my own artistic perspective. Not as a role assigned to her. Not as an ideal. But as something of its own.
